How to tell how many stores are running the same video ad
Updated 10/27/2026
Short answer: The Meta Ad Library doesn't count this. It only groups identical ads within the same Page. To find out how many different stores are running the same video, you have to look for that video across many Pages and count them yourself, or use a tool that matches videos automatically.
Why this number matters
When many stores spend money running the same video, that is a strong signal: later stores see earlier ones keep running it and copy them. A video run by only one store may just be a test. A video run by dozens of stores is a much stronger signal, though it still does not show sales.
How to count by hand
- In the Ad Library, search with keywords that describe the product, not with the store name.
- Open each ad that uses the same video and note the Page name and the landing page domain.
- Count the distinct domains. Each domain is usually one store.
- Try a few more keywords, because every store writes its ad copy differently.
This is slow and easy to miss things. Stores often trim the start of the video, change the music, add text or re-compress it, so it's hard to tell by eye that it's the same video.
Count automatically with SpyWinAds
SpyWinAds fingerprints every video, so re-uploads, re-encodes and music changes are grouped into one video, then it counts every page and shop running it. In the 10/2026 library, 5,239 videos were run by 5 or more shops at once in the US. The top video was run by 117 shops. See monthly report for the 10 videos run by the most stores.
