How we compared

We don't rank anyone number 1: each tool fits a different kind of seller, and SpyWinAds only fits a narrow group. Information about the other tools comes from their official sites. Where we couldn't find something, we wrote "not found" instead of guessing.

  • Platforms and markets: whether the tool covers ads where you sell.
  • Ad start date: an ad that keeps running means the store is still paying for it; it does not prove a profit.
  • Stores running the same video: many stores running the same video is a strong signal, but it does not show sales.
  • Store analysis: whether you can see what competitor stores sell and which ads they run.
  • Pricing and trial: monthly price on monthly billing, whether there is a free trial, and whether a card is required.

8SpyWinAds

Meta ads, by default those shown on Facebook. US ads only

Best for: Run Facebook ads selling in the US and want to know which videos many stores are running, and since when.

Strengths

  • Counts how many pages and shops run the same video, including re-uploads, re-encodes and music changes.
  • Shows the date each ad started running and groups live ads by age.
  • Shows the date the video file was first uploaded to Facebook, so you can spot old videos being run again.
  • Keeps a daily history for each video, so you can see whether it is growing or fading.
  • Clone product pages to your Shopify store, right in the app.

Limitations

  • Meta ads only. No TikTok, Google, or Pinterest yet.
  • US ads only. You can't choose other countries yet.
  • You need the Windows or macOS app to scan keywords. On the web: view results and use 4 free lookup tools.
  • No Chrome extension or data export yet. The API looks up one video, store or Page at a time; it does not search the whole library. Only the videos you marked can be exported to CSV.
  • No spend, likes, or reach data. Rankings are based on the number of live ads and the number of stores running them.

FAQ

Is there a free Facebook ad spy tool?

Yes. Meta's Ad Library is free, but it doesn't tell you which ads are selling. BigSpy has a free plan with limited searches. Winning Hunter offers a trial with no card required.

How can I tell how long a Facebook ad has been running?

Meta's Ad Library shows the start date of each ad. BigSpy and AdSpy filter by run time or last seen. SpyWinAds groups live ads by age: under 7 days, 7 to 14 days, over 14 days, and reads the earliest day the video file was uploaded to Facebook to spot old videos being run again.

How can I tell how many stores are running the same video ad?

The Meta Ad Library doesn't group the shops running the same video. Of the tools in this article, SpyWinAds counts that: video fingerprints group re-uploads, re-encodes and music changes. We haven't seen this feature on the official sites of the other tools.
