Scanning on your home network

Updated 11/02/2026 · screenshots from app version 0.6.5

This article helps you understand how the SpyWinAds app scans ads and which data is yours alone.

Where the app scans

Facebook blocks scanning from servers. That is why scanning runs in the SpyWinAds app installed on your computer (Windows or macOS).

The app opens Facebook’s public Ad Library in its own hidden window. The app does not log in to Facebook and does not need Google Chrome.

The app scans using your home network. You don’t have to buy a proxy or log in to any account.

Where to see results

Results appear in the web app, in tabs such as Potential videos, Winning videos, Scaling videos and Evergreen products. You can open the web in a browser to view them, but the scan button only works in the app.

Shared library: what you contribute and what stays yours

Thanks to the shared library, a video that many people scan ends up with fuller ad and shop counts.

How long your computer needs to be on

You don’t need to keep your computer on all day. Scan and refresh jobs are queued on the server. The app on your computer does them while the computer is on, usually 30–60 minutes a day.

The app runs in the background. Closing the window does not quit the app. On Windows there is an icon at the right end of the taskbar, on Mac in the menu bar at the top.

When you scan a lot, Facebook may temporarily limit your home network. The app pauses by itself and then resumes exactly where it left off. This does not affect your Facebook account, because the app does not log in to Facebook.
